Renaissance Leadership is delighted to announce the appointment of Owen Batt as Chief Technology Officer at the Green Deal Finance Company, a fast growth consumer brand in the home energy and renewable energy space.
Owen has extensive experience in starting and building businesses in the tech and digital sector, initially in Australia with Loc8.com as Founder and CTO. Loc8.com went on to run asset management and workflow management for global enterprises with offices in Australia and Europe. Working out of the UK since 2011 he went on to provide technology guidance and due diligence for a number of early stage disruptive digital businesses across media and healthcare in the UK and Berlin.
The Green Deal Finance Company is a consumer loans / fintech business focused on the renewable energy / energy efficiency space in the UK. The business was recently acquired by a consortium of investors for £40m led by Greenstone Finance, Aurium Capital Markets and Honeycomb Investment Trust in January 2013. The new owners have significant aspirations for the business, beyond being a finance business alone.
Transformational changes in energy markets (the emergence and growth of solar PV, battery storage, smart meters, home heating controls, distributed generation) have created a large and growing market. The market for these products today is c. £7 billion and is estimated to be c. £10 billion by 2020.
